The Return of Sunny Day Real Estate to The Moore Theatre in Seattle, Wa

For the first time in over a decade, Sunny Day Real Estate hit the stage in hometown Seattle, Washington with a two-show run at The Moore Theatre as their highly anticipated reunion tour picks up stride again after having to reschedule December 2022 dates due to drummer, William Goldsmith’s unfortunate hand injury. Emo era nostalgia seekers packed into the historic Moore Theatre on the luckiest night of the year; March 17th, 2023.

Taking the stage to warm up the audience was emo/rock band The Appleseed Cast performing a variety of their classics as well as songs from their 2019 album, The Fleeting Light of Impermanence. Their opening set energized the crowd as fans filed in to take their seats.

Sunny Day Real Estate took the stage shortly after kicking off with “Pillars” and “One” and the band seemed genuinely excited and joyful to be returning to the stage in Seattle after so many years. At one point in the show, Enigk commented on how cool it was to be on stage and have his dad in the audience with a huge smile on his face.

The Sub Pop band embarked on their first tour in over 12 years last September and currently consists of Jeremy Enigk (vocals/guitar), Dan Hoerner (guitar) and William Goldsmith (drums), alongside guitarist, Greg Suran and Chris Jordan (bass). The three-guitar ensemble allowed for a uniquely layered sound throughout the auditorium and the night was full of nostalgia hearing songs like, “Every Shining Time You Arrive” and “Killed by an Angel”.

Positive energy of the night had fans on their feet jumping, dancing, shouting gratitude to the band for their return and you could tell the energy of the crowd did not want to be contained by the pesky permanent seat rows. This was definitely a show that needed a GA pit. The band also played their 2014 single “Lipton Witch” and closed out the night with a 4 song encore including “The Rising Tide” “Faces in Disguise” “In Circles” and “Days Were Golden”.

The tour charges on with dates in California before heading back to the midwest and closing out at the end of April on the east coast. Check the Sunny Day Real Estate website for dates and get out to see them live!
