Nothing More played a sold-out show at the Theater of Living Arts in Philadelphia, PA last Friday. With support from Thousand Below and Crown the Empire, Nothing More gave an energized and electrifying performance that had the crowd on their feet all night long.
Thousand Below
Thousand Below opened the night. The post-hardcore band played seven songs total, including Hell Finds You Everywhere, Chemical, Sabotage, and closed their set with Sinking Me.
Crown the Empire
Crown the Empire was next. They played ten songs, including DOGMA, the Fallout, In Another Life, and Dancing with the Dead.
Nothing More
Nothing More hit the stage around 9:15 pm. When the lights dimmed and the tape intro for Mr. Sandman began playing over the PA system, we knew this would be a great show. The band opened with SPIRITS, the title track of their new album. After that they went into Do You Really Want It? and TIRED OF WINNING/SHIPS IN THE NIGHT.
Nothing More consists of vocalist Jonny Hawkins, drummer Ben Anderson, guitarist Mark Vollelunga, and bassist Daniel Oliver. The quartet is currently touring for their latest album SPIRITS, which was released October 14th, 2022. Nothing More played several new songs off of the new album, like FACE IT and BEST TIMES. Keynote Music Collective just released a song review for BEST TIMES, which you can view here.
The TLA was almost too small for Nothing More. The band has such a gigantic and distinct sound that it feels like they should be playing nothing less than arenas across the world. All four members brought their A-game for the entirety of the set. There was not one moment of rest, even during slower songs like Fade In/Fade Out and I’ll Be Okay. Even those tracks were performed with such intensity that everyone in the venue was breathing heavily.
Nothing More ended with their fan-favorite song This is the Time (Ballast). Just before they began it, Hawkins shouted to the crowd “We are not a band that does encores. We do one last song, and we do it well!” This couldn’t be more true. This is the Time ended with an incredible percussion performance by Hawkins as he, Oliver, and Vollelunga stood in the crowd playing their final notes. Everyone could feel the floorboards under our feet shaking from the crowd dancing and moshing.
A Nothing More concert is truly a breathtaking experience filled with incredible music and passionate fans. I highly recommend checking out this tour. You can find tickets and additional tour dates here.
