Alternative indie band Wld Lfe, reigning from Indiana, hit the road on their full US tour this last Fall. Celebrating the release of their latest album Heaven Is A Place, which was released in August 2024. The timing of this new album couldn’t be more perfect as a great selection of songs from the album were played live. Along with songs from their earlier albums such as Goodbye To All of That and Repaint My Mind.
This tour name was fitting as it referred back to the new album name while also giving an ode to the fans. With the album title and tour name combined, it reads Heaven Is a Place Where You Are, “you” being the fans and listeners. The upcoming midwest-based band brought the energy to Neumos located in Seattle, Washington. They conquered the stage and made it the most electric and interactive performance. Along with them they brought New York based band Young Culture.
Young Culture has traveled to Seattle time and time again and each show they put on is exciting. This growing rock band brought the energy and warmed up the crowd for the main performance. Front man Alexander Magnan, guitarist Gabe Pietrafesa, touring bassist Mackenzie Clarke, and drummer Simon Hatz together created an electric set and opened with some bangers.
They opened with Not In Love which came from their 2022 album You Had To Be There. Also from that album show goers heard Kinda Over It, Tattoo, Whiskey, and Know Better. Just to name a few from an album that received a lot of love from fans. If there is one thing to note, it’s that Alexander and Gabe definitely interacted a lot with the audience which sparked the crowd to sing and dance along with this incredible band. There were a lot of moments where the audience participation was energetic and genuine. Fans sang right back to the band’s faces when the mic was pointed to them. A live show with Albany, NY’s very own Young Culture is set up to be a good time.
Young Culture
It was time for the band of the hour, Wld Lfe, to come on and continue on with the hyped up energy. The band opened with Simple Math and immediately concert goers started singing along. From the latest album Heaven Is A Place, we heard some songs such as Dizzy, Growing Up Song, Heaven is a place, Real Estate (my personal favorite), Here We Go Again, Sweet Tooth, and Wreck My Life, just to name a few from the new album. Hearing All My Friends live was fun because it had the most audience interaction. Between front man Jansen Hogan leaning towards the audience and hearing them sing back parts of the chorus.
Fan favorites were played off the new album, but a handful of others from the 2023 album Goodbye to All of That. From that album we heard Close to You, Psycho, Somebody’s Gonna Love You, and Waterfalls. Carson Hogan, Jansen’s brother played Waterfalls together and it made for a sweet sibling moment of the show. At one point during the show, a giant foam made coin was brought out. This was used to decide between Good, Bad, Us and Both/And. With the options labeled on either side, the coin was flipped by a fan in the front and for the first time in this tour so far, Both/And was chosen. But in the end, both options ended up being played.
Overall, for Seattle being on the last stretch of tour, the energy was flowing from the crowd to the artists on stage. Both artist and crowd were interactive with each other. There was an abundance of singing along and dancing to favorite songs live. If you have the opportunity to do it, you will not want to miss the tour they have lined up for the new year. Live: In A Place Where You Are tour continues next year in January, starting out in Madison, WI. The Wldlfe is one you do not want to miss out on.
