The Florida native deathcore band Bodysnatcher released their latest single “E.D.A” on February 17th. The song drop was accompanied by a music video and the announcement of their third studio album Blood-Abide which is set to release on April 22nd.
“E.D.A” is a powerful song that hits harder with each listen. The gut-wrenching track dives head first into the trauma of losing a loved one at a young age, as well as the effects it can have throughout one’s life. The band stated in an Instagram post that the song speaks on “the complex, confusing emotions and thoughts that come from that loss”. While the song is fast paced and, in true Bodysnatcher fashion, incredibly heavy and melodically brilliant, it’s the lyrics that stay with you once the song ends.
“You were a work of art
A golden soul stolen from the start
I didn’t get much time
But that’s how it goes
Now you’re just a dream
And a voice that I can’t hold”
Kyle Medina’s strong vocals elevate the heaviness of the lyrics. It isn’t just the words themselves that are powerful, but Medina’s delivery of them. We’ve all felt the anger, despair, and regret after the death of a loved one, and Medina captures that pain in such a way that resonates with the listener, allowing us to feel exactly how he is feeling.
“Perception that I only scratched the surface
Sixteen years and I still feel hopeless
The weight still drags me down
Let me get up now
I’m ready to move on
I’m ready to grow
Yet I don’t know
When I’ll let you go
Everyone dies alone”
Along with the new song, the band released a music video to their Youtube channel, which you can watch here.
Bodysnatcher is set to begin their UK tour with INGESTED, Acranius, and BOUND IN FEAR on March 18th. After that, they’re going right into their US/Canadian tour with Dying Fetus, Chelsea Grin, Frozen Soul and Undeath. You can find tickets here.
