Tyler, The Creator at Wells Fargo Center

Tyler, The Creator brought his Call Me If You Get Lost tour to the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Fans packed out the arena on the day of Tyler’s thirty-first birthday.  That’s right, the creative genius is a Pisces. Fans were also excited to see opening acts Teezo Touchdown, Vince Staples, and Kali Uchis prior to the birthday boy’s performance.  And what a performance it was, as Tyler continues to show why he’s one of today’s must see artists.

An artist is exactly what Tyler is as his mediums go beyond just making and producing music. Tyler’s impact in the fashion world continues to grow with his two projects Golf Wang and Golf le Fleur*. Tyler has been collaborating with brands from Converse to Gucci. His most recent releases through the Golf le Fleur* brand has consisted of his first fragrance, French Waltz and a nail polish collection consisting of three matte colors (Geneva Blue, Georgia Peach, and Glitter). My favorite release so far though has been Tyler’s collaboration with high end luggage company Globe-Trotter who has been defining the art of travel since 1897. You can also find Tyler involved in writing for commercials, movies, and TV shows on top also having his own music festival, Camp Flog Gnaw.

There are so many things about Tyler that make him personally one of my favorite artist. Besides hitting three homeruns with the releases of Flower Boy, Igor, and Call Me If You Get Lost. I’ve loved watching Tyler grow as a person with each release and seeing where his creativity takes him next. And none of those albums would have come to be without Cherry Bomb, which Tyler has said was his awkward phase. When you learn more about Tyler’s life and just what he has accomplished since his younger days, you cant help but to feel happy for the guy. Nothing was ever handed to him and he’s earned the spot he’s in now.

Now back to my thoughts about the show. There were so many aspects that I enjoyed but I’ll start with the set design. Tyler’s creativity flourishes here with the show beginning off with him rising up from the ground in the back of the Rolls Royce. Then you have the house in the background where Tyler is able to interact with by going upstairs to the balconies. You’ll also see Tyler taking his boat back and forth over to the second stage placed on the other end of the arena. On that second stage Tyler looks like he’s performing in a field of tall grass. That’s when Tyler would perform a medley of some his classics like, Smuckers, Yonkers, and Tamale. Tyler would cap off the night performing what has become one of my favorite songs, Run It Up, which features opening act Teezo Touchdown on the track. Tyler’s creativity, music, and stage presence made this one of the most unforgettable nights for me.

If you haven’t already gotten tickets you can go here for remaining tour dates. If you’re a fan you definitely don’t want to miss this tour. And if you are someone who has yet to take a listen to Tyler’s music, this is your sign to do so now.
