Those who say rock n’ roll is dead have clearly not checked out Badflower yet. The hard rockers from Los Angeles, California brought the, This Is How The World Continues tour to Union Transfer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Badflower has released two albums since 2019. Their debut album being, OK, I’m Sick which charted #6 on US Hard Rock. In 2021 they released their sophomore album, This Is How The World Ends which charted #20 on US Hard Rock.
The first and only time I saw Badflower live was in 2019 during the OK, I’m Sick tour. This second time around I was excited to see how they would sound and change things up three years later. One thing that didn’t change was the energy the band brings while performing. Bass player Alex Espiritu stood out the most as he was charged up like an energizer bunny. What was new this time around was the piano rendition for Promise Me / Cry which happen to be my favorite songs. If This Is How The World Ends is your favorite album you’ll be glad to know that they play the majority of the tracks during their set.
The opening band for Badflower on this tour is ’68, a two piece rock group consisting of members Josh Scogin and Nikko Yamada. Last year the band released their latest album, Give One Take One. They also feature on the track All This And War off of Every Time I Die’s 2021 album, Radical. The band from Atlanta, Georgia was the perfect appetizer for the audience before Badflower hit the stage. The two musicians fed off of each others energy throughout the set. I don’t think I’ve seen a drummer jump out of their seat without missing a beat as much as Nikko did. Definitely going to want to check out this duo next time they’re around town. This leg of the tour just started, so if you haven’t already gotten tickets I would do so now.
