Live from NYC, It’s MØ at Webster Hall

Karen Marie Aagaard Ørsted Andersen, whose stage name is , is a Danish singer who skyrocketed to commercial success as the vocals on the 2015 smash hit Major Lazer song, “Lean On”. Since then, she has been part of many more chart-toppers and worked with other big-time music stars while sticking to her roots as an alt-pop star.

Earlier this year in 2022 she released her third album, Motordrome, which she’s currently on a world tour through July. While on her tour, I had the pleasure of attending MØ’s sold-out show at one of New York City’s famous concert venues, Webster Hall. If you love music, Webster Hall is one of those venues in the city that everyone goes to at least once in their life. They host a wide range of musical guests and is conveniently located near Union Square.

MØ’s music can be described as alt-pop, in that her voice and aesthetic are different than traditional pop songs and artists, but her music makes you want to dance nonetheless. With over 6 million monthly listeners on Spotify, MØ’s no stranger to putting out music that audiences continue to love and listen to. The crowd at Webster Hall was a mix of younger and older attendees who were all jumping along to MØ’s animated stage presence, beats and lyrics. With Lean On being one of my all-time favorite songs, I was brought back with a little bit of nostalgia when the song’s famous intro start blasting through the speakers. The melody instantly makes you want to move, followed by MØ’s singing!

Setlist:

  • Cool to cry
  • New Moon
  • Nostalgia
  • Pilgrim
  • Nights with you
  • Turn my heart to stone
  • Blur
  • Lean On
  • Run Away
  • Punches

The show was opened up with Tezatalks, who is a vocalist with a dynamic range of music, and says what’s on her mind. Tezatalks perfectly matches MØ’s quirky vibe, with a bit of anime mixed in, and was a great way to start off the show. She really got the crowd hyped before stepped out!
