Citizen “Bash Out” at the Asbury Lanes

Citizen

Citizen is composed of members Mat Kerekes (Vocals), Nick Ham (Guitar), and Eric Hamm (Bass). The rock band based out of Toledo, Ohio have been putting out music since their debut EP, Young States back in 2011. Citizen’s music style can be described as emo, alternative rock, and shoegaze. Citizens 2013 album, Youth is one of their most prominent albums and considered an emo classic. Some of their most popular songs consist of The Night I Drove Alone, How Does It Feel?, and Sleep.

Citizen released their fourth full length album, Life In Your Glass World back in March of 2021. The album features the tracks Blue Sunday, Dance Approximately, I Want to Kill You, and Pedestal. Since the release of their album, Citizen has put out two singles Let Me Out and Bash Out.

Concert goers had a great time spending their night with Ceremony and Citizen. From the minute Ceremony hit the stage the crowd was dancing, moshing, and two-stepping. That energy would carry right over to Citizen. Citizen opened it up with Death Dance Approximately which I think is the perfect song to kick it off with to get the crowd moving. The band played a set consisting of songs mainly from Youth and Life In Your Class World. I couldn’t complain though since those are my two favorite Citizen albums. Citizen remains a really fun band to see live and one that I recommend checking out if you haven’t already. Their next tour starts in August where they will be touring Joyce Manor, Prince Daddy & The Hyena, and Phony. You can grab tickets for that tour here.
