Bridgestone Arena gets “Icy” with Twenty One Pilots

On September 7th, 2022, alternative-rock duo Twenty One Pilots performed at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN with support from Peter McPoland for a stop on their North American Icy Tour.

This was my first time seeing McPoland live and it was great! Like Twenty One Pilots, McPoland tells a story with his music. Peter started the night off with his hit song, Shit Show, and was followed by Come Around, Tonight, News at Nine, and Romeo and Juliet. Throughout his set, he entertained the crowd with his music, dancing all over the stage, and interacting with the crowd. His energy through his entire set was unmatched.

Twenty One Pilots started their set with Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun as they explore an icy place and find a blue door. The door in the visual  pulls them in and they arrive on the actual stage. The duo starts off their set with Good day which progresses into No Chances and Guns for Hands

This duo has created a story using the music they make. Each song had visual and lighting effects to go along with it. The audience gets to experience the feelings and emotions and how we try to hide these things from others, but their songs also help to deal with life’s emotions. Each album is a continuation from the last. With each album, the listener can learn a little more about the story that they are creating. With the album, Scaled and Icy, we can see a lighter, more confident, uplifting side.

Twenty One Pilots also included songs like Message Man, Car Radio, and Chlorine in their set. They have such a strong connection with 19,000 fans, who were singing along to each song that they performed. Joseph was on every part of the stage connecting with fans! He even went so far as to perform with the audience holding him up on a mattress, taking him from the B-stage to the main stage during the song Ride. Dun also trusted the fans by letting them hold a platform, with him playing the drums on it during Trees. This is my fifth time seeing this duo live and each concert just gets better and better. They outdid their previous performances with their audience interaction and production. The duo gave it their all throughout the entire night and left the crowd with a night they certainly will not forget.
