Fate Destroyed invades Pennsylvania with The Exorcism Tour
I first caught wind of Fate Destroyed after Blue Ridge Rock Festival 2021. I had made a point to listen to a little bit of every one of the band that played, especially if I hadn’t heard of them before. Fate Destroyed quickly scooted to the top of my every day playlist. After all, nu-metal will always make my little heart go “pitter patter”. When they announced they would be on tour again AND coming to my favorite hometown hang out, Lovedraft’s Brewing Co. in Mechanicsburg, PA, there was no question that I’d be there.
In the weeks before 4/28 rumbles from the DWPresents twitch channel Discord started that the hosts themselves would be coming to live stream the whole show. The rumbles turned into fact. Bobby Schubenski and Josh Balz showed up!
I have to mention the venue itself. Lovedraft’s Brewing Co. has only been open for less than a year. In that short time it has become a hub for amazing food, beer and music. The alternative atmosphere makes me feel right at home every time I walk through the doors. Which I do…often.
Beginning the night was Brotality. They have a very hair metal look but a much, much heavier sound. These progressive groove metal guys are based in Narrowsburg, NY. There was epic head banging all around which we’d see was a theme for the night.
Second up was Voice The Chaos. The York, Pennsylvania based guys brought a heavy metal sound that got the crowd to start moving.
Third up for the night and probably the most talked about by the headliners was Nail Bite. These kids, and I say kids meaning ACTUAL kids have a stage presence unlike most bands save for large name artist. The epic head banging continued and I was there for it. I’m a fan of the good ‘ole screams and vocalist Lonna Nelson never disappoints. This was actually the second time in less than a week I had the pleasure of seeing/photographing them. They are another Blue Ridge Rock Festival alum.
The first co-headliner of the night, Living Dead Girl came out with the same female fronted energy Nail Bite had started for the night. Front woman, Molly Rennick made sure to give them a shout out. The Canadian band doesn’t fit the mold of one genre and spans from metal, rock, goth, and industrial. The band dropped their debut album “Exorcism” last year.
Finally it was time for Fate Destroyed to make their way on to the stage. Vocalist, Franccesca De Struct belts out clean and dirty vocals for this nu-metal crew. The chemistry the band as a whole has brings their performance to an incredible level. The energy is at an all time high by the time the second song of the set started, Death Signs. Now, that song is on my daily play list. It NEVER gets old for me to sing along with my favorite songs being preformed literally right in front of me while I get to shoot.
The band is incredibly active on social media and there had been chitter chatter that Franccesca was going to crowd surf that night. And sure enough, as the set progressed the time came and she did a whole trust fall off the stage and the crowd caught her. All while still singing! Literally impressive.
If you want a truly fun, energic show this would be one you don’t want to miss.
