Silverstein Celebrate Their Greatest Hits at Theater of Live Arts In Philadelphia

Silverstein is Shane Told (vocals), Josh Bradford (guitar), Paul Koehler (drums), Billy Hamilton (bass), and Paul Rousseau (guitar).

Silverstein performed at Philadelphia’s Theater of Living Arts to celebrate the band’s greatest hits of old and new. Not only were fans getting the greatest hits but for the first and only time ever, the Canadian rockers played, “This is How the Wind Shifts’ ‘ the bands seventh studio album. Additionally the band did a live, set list vote. This is where fans would vote for two songs to be played. For the whole tour it seems fans have been voting for the same two songs. Smashed Into Pieces and Your Sword Versus My Dagger.

Silverstein is joined by the bands Stray From The Path and Avoid. Stray From The Path is an in your face type of metal band that I’ve enjoyed photographing since seeing them on tour with Underoath. The band mixes nu metal, hardcore, and rap to go along with their cutthroat lyrics that don’t mince on their beliefs. The band speaks on issues like corrupt politicians, police brutality, and condemning those with alt right ideology. Avoid is a four piece metal band from Seattle, Washington. The band left its mark on the Philly crowd with their high energy performance. The vocalist at one point even made his way to the balcony of the venue for one of their songs.

I had photographed Silverstein only once prior in 2020. I was stoked to hear some of my favorites by the band like, Smile in Your Sleep, Smashed Into Pieces, and The Afterglow. I also enjoyed their cover of Linkin Park’s, One Step Closer. Silverstein have been going strong for twenty-four years now and with eleven albums to show for it. Here’s to hoping that they still have plenty left in the tank, from what it seems they aren’t slowing down anytime soon.
