Mayday Parade put on three holiday shows to cap off 2023. New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Long Island got to experience the most wonderful time of the year with the band from Florida. Mayday Parade this year released three singles, More Like A Crash, Got Me All Wrong, and Miracle.
For these three holiday shows, Mayday Parade are joined by Origami Angel and Sweet Pill. Origami Angel is a two-piece rock band from Washington, D.C that mixes influences from easycore, Indie rock, and pop punk. I became familiar with them after seeing them tour with The Wonder Years. One of my favorite Origami Angel Songs is Skeleton Key. Then you have one of Philadelphia’s rising bands, Sweet Pill. A band I’ve been seeing opening up for some of my favorite bands over the last couple years. Their 2022 debut album, “Where the Heart Is’ ‘ got me hooked on them!
Mayday Parade are no strangers to playing at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey. Starland Ballroom is one of New Jersey’s most important music venues. There’s been countless legendary shows and artists that have performed there. It’s guaranteed to that when Mayday Parade announce a show at Starland Ballroom, that it will be a sold out. Concert goers pack in the 2,500 capacity venue. Excited to hear all the classics they’ve grown to know and love. Fans went crazy for songs like Jamie All Over, Black Cat, and Jersey. Of course the New Jersey crowd’s favorite song to hear would be Jersey, right? Fans also saw the live debuts of Demons and Even Robots Need Blankets.
Over the years Mayday Parade have been a band that’s remained consistent in their writing style. Cause of this they’ve remained a staple for so many fans of emo and pop punk. Emotional lyricism based on life events along with either catchy pop punk instrumentals or a piano to help make you cry a lil more. Mayday Parade is a fun band to see live and big part of it also has to do with their fans. Every Mayday show you are pretty much guaranteed moshing and crowd surfing going on. If in 2023 you didn’t make it to a Mayday Parade show then put it as one of your New Year’s resolutions to see them in 2024.
