Saving Vice Release New Single “White Rabbit” ahead of U.S Tour
Saving Vice is an independent, dual-vocalist American metalcore band from Vermont. Founded by guitarist Robbie Litchfield and formed in 2017 the group consists of members: Tyler Small (Clean Vocals), Chase Papariello (Unclean Vocals), Robbie Litchfield (Guitar), Kenjamin Smiertelny (Bass), and Sam Whelton (Drums).
Saving Vice is well known on the New England Metalcore scene for their catchy electronic tracks mixed with intense vocals and high energy performances. On Friday, May 13th, 2022 the band released its first radio single “White Rabbit” ahead of their “Born Dead ” Tour with Lil Xan, Dropout Kings, VVizardking and Rosh Dawg.
At first glance at the song’s title you may think it’s another cover of the iconic “White Rabbit” by 60’s rock band, Jefferson Airplane but it’s a completely original song. While there are some references to drugs and chasing a metaphoric rabbit the similarities to the Lewis Carrol inspired track ends there.
The song’s lyrics tell the story of an individual battling their demons as well as themselves. There’s a struggle between doing what makes you feel better and having the courage to fight your way through the pain.
The song itself is multifaceted with layers of multiple metal genres influencing the band’s style and sound. Starting off with fast and hard electric guitars screaming over industrial pop keyboards and samples in the background.
Tyler Smalls sings almost like he is pleading with himself to stop the song’s main character from going down the wrong path and at other times argues that it’s ok. His vocals are full of such raw emotion that the listener can’t help but sympathize with the character.
The dual vocals between Smalls and Chase Papariello are the salty and sweet combination fans of bands like I Prevail and Lacuna Coil will enjoy. Papariello’s vocals in White Rabbit send a sense or urgency to wake up and face reality.
Without watching the song’s video, the listener can almost visualize the story. Watching the video you can see the theatrical performance from each band member that provides a little more detail into what exactly is the White Rabbit.
What does the metaphor mean to you? Is it a person, an object or a feeling?
Is the White Rabbit worth chasing?
Give the song a listen and decide for yourself. If you find yourself distracted by the urge to get up and dance don’t feel bad. I’m pretty sure that’s all part of the song’s design as well.
