The Acacia Strain at the Asbury Lanes

The Acacia Strain

The Acacia Strain is a deathcore band from Massachusetts and consist of members Vincent Bennet (Vocals), Kevin Boutot (Drums), Devin Shidaker (Guitar), and Griffin Landa (Bass). The band is currently signed to Rise Records and have been putting out music for over twenty years now. The last album they released was “Slow Decay” that came out in 2020. To this date they have ten full length albums released.

The Acacia Strain cranked out a sixteen song setlist consisting of tracks old and new at the Asbury Lanes. A venue that has seen a resurgence and become a favorited spot over the last handful of years. This was my first time seeing the band live and they did not disappoint. Vincent joked that he wasn’t sure if they would be allowed back in Asbury Park after how their last show went.

As I mentioned before, The Acacia Strain did not disappoint with their performance. There was many times where they had me making a stank face as I nodded my head to a heavy breakdown. One track I specifically liked hearing was the first song Feed a Pigeon Breed a Rat. That opening part where Vincent just comes in and belts out “It feels like Hell” followed by the instrumentals that make you feel like you’re descending.

The Acacia Strain is half way through their tour but you can still grab tickets for remaining dates here.
