Grayscale kicked off their summer tour on July 5th in the Motown city itself, Detroit. This tour features a wide variety of music from The Ivy, Bearings, Guardin, and Grayscale. So if you are a fan of emo rap, pop punk, or anywhere in between, you’re sure to have a good time at this show.
The Ivy had a very chill and relaxed sound. It seemed familiar to me, but I could not seem to pinpoint their specific sound. They are a great band to just chill and vibe out to. I think they were a great band to open with a really set the pace for the show. You don’t use too much energy listening to them, it’s just a nice vibe to enjoy.
Bearings had a familiar pop punk sound. If you are a fan of bands like State Champs, I strongly suggest them. I’m not the biggest fan of pop punk, but because they sound similar to State Champs I did enjoy this set.
Guardin is an emo rap artist with a sound very much like nothing.nowhere. This was an interesting change of pace from the last 2 bands, since I really do not listen to his type of music. The crowd though, they absolutely loved him.
I have only recently become a fan of Grayscale. To me, Grayscale just makes you want to get up and dance. While driving around I always find myself singing their songs and wanting to dance. Even with a smaller crowd, everyone was up on their feet and having a great time. I feel like every song they play has a different type of sound which makes the show very fun.
I highly recommend going to this tour if you like a lineup from multiple genres. I think that every artist had a unique sound, and that kept the show from getting too boring or typical. If you haven’t heard of these bands but like their genres, I strongly suggest giving this tour a shot. You can get tickets here!
