On March 27th, Maddie Zahm brought an astounding performance to The Basement East. She had everyone in the crowd singing and crying along to her music. The venue was full of people who were able to relate to each song that was performed.
Corook, named Corinne Savage, was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They now reside in Nashville, Tennessee. Their genre is considered Alternative-Indie. Corook opened for Maddie Zahm on the You Might Not Like Her tour. It was a warm, sunny Monday. We arrived at the venue early to get a good spot for the show and the line was already growing at 2 P.M. Everyone was so excited and waiting in anticipation of what the show tonight would bring. Corook is very in tune with their audience. During the song snakes, they stopped in the middle of the song to ask the crowd if there were any snake people in the crowd. A few people shouted that they were and then Corook changed up the song and started singing about how “great” snakes were, before going back to the original version of the song. During their set, they performed the dog, idk god, and it’s ok!, just to name a few. All of these songs demonstrate a wide range of emotions as well as their humor. Corook is a multi-talented person and you will be very entertained while they are performing.
Maddie Zahm is a singer/songwriter from Boise, Idaho who is now based in Los Angeles, California. She released her debut EP You Might Not Like Her in August of 2022.
After a small intermission, Zahm came onto the stage to an audience that was so full of excitement and ready to sing their hearts out. Maddie opened her setlist with her song Pocket Bible, which asked a lot of questions that she felt did not get answered by her little pocket Bible that she had. Each one of her songs tells the crowd more about Maddie’s life and experiences. She puts so much emotion into them because she knows that her fans will be able to relate to the search and growth that her music has brought her. During her set, Zahm sang Fat Funny Friend, Blind Spot, and Step on Me, to name a few. Maddie’s set was full of emotions. The crowd was so into every song that she performed.
I had such an amazing time watching both Corook and Maddie’s set. Both of these artists radiate so much positivity. I have been a fan of Maddie Zahm’s since she was on American Idol. It felt so surreal to see her perform on her sold-out tour. If you get the chance to see either of these artists, you will not leave the show disappointed!
