Emily Li, (also known as Emei) is a Los Angeles based alternative pop singer-songwriter. On July 13th, she released her second single of 2022 called “That Girl”. The song was written by Emily Li, Myles Avery, Olivia Cargile (LIIV), and Jordan Lewis. The single was produced by Jordan Lewis and Myles Avery. In the single, Emei states:
“That girl, with the perfect hair
And that girl, doesn’t really care
And somehow, everything goes right
For that girl, that girl, wanna be that girl”
That girl is a song that describes the perfect girl. She is someone that we all strive to be. She is up on time, perfectly dressed, hair is in place, and is ready to walk out the door with a black coffee in hand to take on the day. After these lyrics, she states:
“When I’m running late I dent my car
And I’d call you but my phone’s not charged
Yeah, I’m just that girl who tries way too damn hard“
Most of us are this girl and that is okay. Sometimes the coffee gets spilt all over us, we oversleep our alarms, and things do not always go to plan. We try too hard to reach this unattainable goal to be this perfect person.
