Fitz and the Tantrums take over Seattle

On a crisp Sunday evening in the heart of Downtown Seattle on January 22nd, fans lined up along first avenue ready for a night of great music at the beloved Showbox Theater. It was a rare evening with no rain and ardent concertgoers were keyed up heading inside for the 2nd stop of Fitz and the Tantrums’, Let Yourself Free Tour.

Founded in 1939, The Showbox in Seattle is a venue that has hosted many amazing artists over the years such as The Ramones, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden and on this mid-winter evening it was a packed house once again for this sold-out show.

Southern California-based Indie Pop artist, Sammy Rash, was first to hit the stage to warm up the crowd opening with his tracks, Time Limits and Lead Me On. Sammy made the crowd giggle when his water bottle spilled a little on his pants and asked if they could all just become friends. Rash became wildly popular over the last two years on TikTok and has amassed a fan base of over 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify. His catchy pop tracks are uplifting and relatable and the crowd bounced along with his lyrics as he performed. Sammy was full of big smiles and joked that he had good news and bad news as he closed out his set with his stand-out song, Summer and Cigarettes.

Soon the crowded theater was charged with excitement as Fitz and the Tantrums took the stage opening with their newest single Sway, Heaven and OCD. Michael Fitzpatrick and Noelle Scaggs high energy stage presence vibrated throughout the auditorium as the set continued with fan favorites like Living for the Weekend and Fool. Fitzpatrick wowed the audience and it erupted with cheers when he said that the Showbox was the Seattle venue the band had played on their first trip to town and they were ecstatic to be returning to a sold-out house. The band had the crowd shaking their Moneymaker then holding up their hands in the shape of a heart for All the Feels. Toward the end of their electrifying set came top-notch hits like Walker and Moneygrabber and elated fans were sent off with their hands clapping for the final tune of the night Handclap. Fitz and the Tantrums tour continues on to destinations in California and Arizona then back to the midwest before more dates on the east coast. This concert was exhilarating and truly enjoyable. If you get the chance to catch this indie pop knockout on tour – you definitely should!
