Turnstile and Snail Mail at XL Live in Harrisburg, PA – Final Show of 2022

Turnstile

Grammy-nominated band Turnstile made their way to XL Live in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with the support of Snail Mail. Turnstile has been on an absolute tear since the release of their acclaimed album, Glow On (2021). From selling out tours to performing on live tv, and now nominated for three Grammy awards. The three categories the band is nominated for is Best Rock Performance (“Blackout”), Best Rock Song (“Holliday”), and Best Metal Performance (“Blackout”).

XL Live in Harrisburg, PA had the pleasure of hosting the final Turnstile show of 2022. There was a big difference between this show and the show in Boston I photographed two days prior. A barricade! Upon arrival, I was greeted with the sight of no barricade to be seen. Although most photographers would rightfully avoid bringing their cameras into a pit like this, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. Despite mosh pits, crowd surfing, and stage diving for seventeen songs my gear and I were able to make it out ok. Much appreciation for the people in the crowd who said I was doing ok after the songs.

This show felt so special from start to finish. Before it was time for Turnstile to hit the stage I was able to see members of the band standing on the side watching the opening bands. They were nice and walked over to fans to take quick pictures and sign some vinyl. I met a father and his son who have been seeing Turnstile live for a while now. After exchanging socials I saw the father post a picture of his son with Franz (Bassist) after the show. You always love to see bands who continue to show love to their fans.

I’m glad I didn’t let the lack of barricade stop me from photographing this show. The mosh pits actually allowed me to move around a bit and get different angles as opposed to being locked in one spot. The ending of the show was a beautiful moment. Closing it with T.L.C., fans rushed the stage, and confetti was shot out. “I want to thank you for letting me see myself, I want to thank you for letting me be myself, ” the crowd chanted. All that singer Brendan Yates could do was thank the crowd and soak in the ending of a tour and year.
