Track Review: “Joseph Courtney” by Fencer

L.A based trio, Fencer, have dropped their newest single “Joseph Courtney” a narrative tale of a young boy chasing his lost balloon to the moon who later in adulthood (and seemingly perfect) seeks adulation from seething fans performing on stage.

The self-defined “garage opera band” featuring Field Cate (vocalist and guitarist), Scott Sauve (bass), and Cameron Sauve (drums) perform a poppy, alternative rock tune with a hint of grungy goodness.

Cate’s vocals range from snarling to operatic screaming (reminiscent of Justin Hawkins from the Darkness). Watching their “Jam in the Van video” Cate sings with sassy confidence while staring into the camera with hypnotic eye rolls. It’s part drama, part jam band halfway through the single. Cate grinds on electric guitar with superb marksmanship while drummer Cameron Sauve And impressively keeps the pace singing the song’s ear-worm “la-de-la-de-dah”.

Who is Joseph Courtney? Not sure but you can find out more about Fencer here:
