Taylor Swift returned to Nissan Stadium on May 5th, 2023. Swift was last at this venue for her Reputation Tour, and is now back in Nashville for three sold-out shows on “The Eras Tour”.
The show was opened by Gracie Abrams. She took the stage around 6:25 P.M. She started her set with Where Do We Go Now?. She also sang 21, Block Me Out, and I Know It Won’t Work Out. This was my first time seeing Abrams live, but she put on such a great show! After Abrams‘ set, there was a short intermission and then Phoebe Bridgers took the stage. During her set, she performed Motion Sickness, Kyoto, and Scott Street. Bridgers is also in a group called BoyGenius with Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker. After a little while, she told the crowd that she would like to bring her group onto the stage to perform with her. The crowd was so excited to hear this and everyone screamed for them. The group performed Not Strong Enough, Graceland Too, and I Know The End.
I will forever be amazed by Taylor. I have been to 5 of her tours now and each time gets bigger and better as she always puts on such a phenomenal production. During the show, Taylor divided her eras into different acts. Each era had a beautiful transition that helped guide the crowd through every set. She put on an almost three-and-a-half-hour show with songs from each of her albums.
Taylor kicks off her show in the Lover era. She starts off with Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince, Cruel Summer, and The Man. As I looked around, all of the fans were screaming the lyrics back to Taylor. After Swift concluded the Lover era, we jumped into the Fearless Era. This included the songs: Fearless, You Belong With Me, and Love Story. To transition the show to the next era, a forest emerged on the screen and tall evergreen trees rose from beneath the stage to introduce the crowd to Evermore. Hooded figures danced along the stage with spheres, leaving trails of fire as Taylor sang Willow. She performed ‘Tis the Damn Season, Champagne Problems, and Marjorie, just to name a few. During the song Marjorie, Swift used her grandmother’s vocals from when she was an opera singer. The fans then began to realize that she chose to do this so she could perform with her. Marjorie is such a beautiful song and the live version made it even more emotional and strong. After the Evermore era, she went into Reputation. During Look What You Made Me Do, Swift’s dancers dressed in outfits from her past tours and albums, trapped in boxes as she pounded at the glass and sang the song to them. She also performed Delicate, Don’t Blame Me, and …Ready For It?.
While in the Red era, she sang 22, I Knew You Were Trouble, and All Too Well (10 Minute Version). She also performed a song from the vault of this album for the first time live. She brought out Phoebe Bridgers to sing Nothing New. During the Folklore era, she sang Cardigan, The Last Great American Dynasty, August, and Betty. I was so excited when she started to perform August because that is one of my favorites from Folklore!
At every show, Swift sings two surprise songs after the 1989 era! Before she started singing, Taylor mentioned that she had something that she wanted to share with the crowd. She told everyone to look at the screen at the front of the stage. A banner started to fill the screen announcing her next rerecord, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), which will be out on July 7th! Everyone in the crowd went wild for this. For night one, the surprise songs were Sparks Fly and Teardrops on My Guitar. After the surprise songs, Swift dove into an opening on the stage. A video projection showed her swimming up the catwalk back to the main stage to begin the newest era, Midnights. She opened this era up with Lavender Haze. In this set, she performed songs like Bejeweled, Vigilante Shit, and Anti-Hero. Then Swift closed the show with her song Karma. I think that she picked such a great song for her closer. It truly fits the vibe of the night.
Taylor Swift is truly a Mastermind. She will always put on such an incredible show. There is always something new to discover at each show. This is definitely one concert you will not want to miss!
