If you’re looking for another “let’s dump on Blue Ridge Rock Festival” post, you’re not about to find it here. Yes, there were major issues. But we’re not starting our review of the week with the negative. We’re starting with the personal highlight….photographing metal kings Slipknot.
This was Slipknot’s second year in a row headlining Blue Ridge Rock Festival. In 2022, no media was permitted at all. Going into this year my hopes were high for the opportunity to cover the legends. We waited and waited, and I got word I was one of a hand full who would be permitted to cover their set.
It was an adventure to get to the stage to start with. We lined up single file and held on to camera straps wading our way through the massive crowd as Danzig finished playing.
The group of photographers waited by the gate to the photo pit. Security was TIGHT. We were each given an official Knotfest media wrist band (Bet I will be framing that!) and in we went.
It was an absolute dream come true. This was a bucket list moment.
