The Blame Canada Tour takes over Philadelphia!

Sum 41

Sum 41 is Deryck Whibley (Guitar/Vocals), Dave Baksh (Guitar), Jason McCaslin (Bass), Tom Thacker (Guitar), and Frank Zummo (Drums). The five piece band from Ontario, Canada have been major contributors to the rock n roll scene for over 20 years now. I wasn’t even four years old yet when the band would release their iconic album, “All Killer, No Filler“. You can’t search up “greatest pop punk albums of all time” without that album showing up.

This wasn’t my first time seeing Sum 41 live and over the last couple years I’ve grown to really have an appreciation for the band. Getting to photograph them was one to check off my bucket list. They brought so much energy to their performance and played some of my favorites like The Hell Song, Over My Head (Better Off Dead), and Still Waiting. The crowd was just as active with large mosh pits and crowd surfing going on for most of the performance. At the end of the night after the band left the stage following their encore, the crowd with their exuberant energy continued to chant for one more song.

There is still plenty of dates remaining for this tour! So if you haven’t already gotten your tickets now is your chance. Tickets and remaining dates are available here.

Simple Plan

Simple Plan is composed of Pierre Bouvier (Vocals), Chuck Comeau (Drums), Jeff Stinco (Guitar), and Sébastien Lefebvre (Guitar). The four piece from Montreal, Canada join their tour buddies in Sum 41 as being part of today’s pop punk icons. On this tour the band is celebrating the 20th year anniversary of “No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls”. The album features their classics like, I’m Just a Kid, Perfect, and Addicted. Simple Plan have a lot more to celebrate though since they just released their new album “Harder Than It Looks” on May 6th.

Simple Plan‘s set brought plenty of great music and fun antics. One of the pleasant surprises for me during their set was when the band performed the “What’s New, Scooby-Doo?” theme song that they recorded for the show. Part of the antics consisted of when the drummer Chuck Comeau dressed up in a full hazmat suit right before crowd surfing. This was my first time getting to see Simple Plan live and I seriously enjoyed their performance. I look forward to seeing them again next time they are around the tristate area.

I also really loved watching fans of the band enjoying a night of music. Fans that consisted of both old and new. I counted a handful of children that were on their parent’s shoulders enjoying the music they grew up listening to. Moments like this took me back to when I was a young kid and my mom would bring me to concerts with her.
