On Sunday September 11th, We Came as Romans, Ice Nine Kills, Motionless in White and Black Veil Brides continued their reign of terror in Asheville, NC.
If you are familiar with Keynote Music Collective, you’d know that we have been deep undercover to unearth the truth behind the mysterious death of frontman of Ice Nine Kills, Spencer Charnas’, real-life leading lady Nadia Teichmann. If you haven’t read parts one, two, or three of our investigation, take the time to catch up before reading our chilling discoveries from the Trinity of Terror sequel.
This story begins with We Came As Romans. Though this Michigan fourpiece was a new addition to the Trinity of Terror line up they couldn’t be ruled out as persons of interest just yet. This wasn’t my first time seeing these guys live so I knew what to expect from their performance. So I thought… Their energy was infectious and within no time the crowd was singing along to every song. But before I knew it the band had incited a mosh pit and several unsuspecting victims began crowd surfing their way to the front of the stage. The band goes on to perform their biggest hits and even dedicate their song Lost in the Moment to former frontman Kyle Pavone, who tragically passed in 2018. It was at that moment I knew WCAR could be ruled out as having any involvement in INK‘s charades, they were there to entertain and get lost in the moment. These guys thoroughly warmed up the North Carolina crowd and were a perfect addition to the TOT II tour.
Up next were our suspects in question, Ice Nine Kills. In our last investigation, we concluded that there could be someone trying to frame the guys and that they could truly be innocent. So I was on high alert for the duration of their set. As a cloud of smoke rolled in there was no turning back, we are all on the full descent into Horrorwood. I have seen Ice Nine multiple times now and they never cease to amaze. Their set is a sight to behold. Each element of their live show is meticulously orchestrated, from their gruesome props to their lighting, costumes, and characters. And frontman Spencer Charnas’ on-stage persona is just the icing on their chilling performance. The band as a whole makes you not want to take your eyes off the stage for fear of missing a moment of their cinematic show. The band plays mostly hits from their album Welcome To Horrorwood: The Silver Scream 2, and close with their Nightmare on Elm Street-inspired track, The American Nightmare. Just as I breathe a sigh of relief, that nothing out of the ordinary occurred during their set, out of the corner of my eye I spot a familiar shadowy figure that quickly disappears backstage. Knowing there was nothing I could do until they resurfaced, I continued my watchful investigation.
Now that I was more vigilant than ever, it was time for the gothic metalcore band, Motionless In White to take the stage. The Scranton Pennsylvania five-piece recently released their sixth album, Scoring the End of the World which has amassed over 50 million streams on Spotify alone. The band gave the crowd an epic performance of Masterpiece, STEOTW, Sign of Life, and Slaughterhouse from the new album, but also made sure to include fan favorites like Voices and their cover of Somebody Told Me. This group is all about their fans. They expressed their unconditional love throughout the show by directly interacting with several audience members and showing their support of the LGBTQIA community. Frontman Chris Cerulli headbanged his way across the entirety of the stage giving pause to smile and make faces at the adoring crowd. The band’s energy as a whole was to be commended. Even with their gothic attire and intense stage presence, the group is as wholesome as they come, even going as far as to hand out roses to concertgoers during their single Eternally Yours. There’s no doubt in my mind that they have absolutely nothing to do with the murder of Miss Teichmann and unknowingly got wrapped up in Mr. Charnas’ antics once again.
Before the headliner of the night, Black Veil Brides was slated to take the stage, I took a minute to regroup and recruit a familiar face in the audience to serve as a second set of eyes. As the intro to Faithless begins to play, screams echo throughout the 7,600-capacity venue. Each member of the band enters one by one and waves to adoring fans which intensified the screams and cheers. The glam hard rock band has been on the scene since 2006 and they assuredly know how to dish out a killer performance. But was it the kind of killer act we had been anticipating? The Ohio group gives die-hard fans a flawless performance of each song on their set list, which even featured rhythm guitarist, Jinxx, on violin. So far nothing out of the ordinary to report. But just as they begin to close their set I spot that ominous figure once again, this time sharing the stage with BVB. Vocalist Andy Biersack, spots the elusive person of interest just as I do and dives off stage during In the End, to seek safety within the audience.
The shadowed figure takes off in the opposite direction and I give chase to attempt to catch the mysterious man we originally spotted in Pikeville. But just as I’m about to unveil the silencer killer himself, I’m struck from behind and wake up an undetermined amount of time later backstage. My vision was still blurry from the blow to the head as I attempt to survey my surroundings. I am unable to make out faces but several feet away I spot two figures dressed in all black, one appearing to be female. I struggle to hear the heated conversation between the two but the words I’m certain I heard were, “Nadia, not again”. The two figures are now aware of my alertness and take off before I can get to my feet, ultimately leaving us back at square one.
Were we wrong this whole time? Is Nadia still alive? Could there be multiple killers? Is Spencer covering for someone?
