Highly Suspect with special guests Dead Poet Society, made a stop to the Motor City on Saturday October 15th, 2022. The visit to the historic Fillmore Detroit in downtown Detroit, Michigan was around the halfway point of their The Midnight Demon Club Tour.
The street in front of the iconic theater was packed with people as everyone poured into the venue. The downtown area was already filled with a buzz and excitement, and that continued once inside the nearly 100-year-old, Italian renaissance-themed building. Once inside, the floor leading down to the stage is graded into 3 tiers, and there is a balcony area above. The pit area was already packed full of anticipating fans.Â
Dead Poet Society kicked the night off in the Motor City. They are a rock band hailing from Boston, Massachusetts. The band is composed of Jack Underkofler [vocals], Jack Collins [guitar], Nick Taylor [bass], and Will Goodroad [drums]. The guys played a nine-song set and got the crowd warmed up for Highly Suspect.Â
Highly Suspect is an American rock band based out of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The band consists of Johnny Stevens [guitar, lead vocals], twin brothers Rich [bass] and Ryan Meyer [drums], and Matt Kofos [guitar/synthesizer]. The stage’s backdrop had some really cool artwork with bright, vibrant colors. The tour follows the release of their latest album The Midnight Demon Club which was released in September of this year. The guys started the night off with the song The Sound and a whole lot of energy! They continued with an 18-song set that included hits such as Natural Born Killer, Canals, My Name is Human, and Lydia. At one point in the set, Johnny walked around the venue continuing to sing as the crowd fed off the energy. Toward the end of their set, a few fans began to crowd surf as the night drew to a close. After a short pause backstage, the band did come back out for an encore of an additional two songs.Â
What a great night of alternative hard rock music performed by both bands. The music you can feel, dance to, and leaves you energized as well.
