Turnstile
Grammy-nominated band Turnstile made their way to Roadrunner in Boston, Massachusetts for night one of two with the support of Snail Mail. Turnstile have been on an absolute tear since the release of their acclaimed album, Glow On (2021). From selling out tours to performing on live tv, and now nominated for three Grammy awards. The three categories the band is nominated for is Best Rock Performance (“Blackout”), Best Rock Song (“Holliday”), and Best Metal Performance (“Blackout”). Glow On is the album that introduced me to Turnstile thanks to the help of TikTok. I remember when “Holliday” started trending on the social media app and thinking to myself, “Wow this is really good”. Hardcore, punk rock, and shoegaze. These three genres are what make up this insanely good album.
The Boston Crowd was erupting before Turnstile had even reached the stage. Every night right before their set, Turnstile would play Whitney Houston’s, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” on the speakers. I watched the crowd sing and dance along in anticipation of the band they all came to see. People on the barricade held on tight to secure their spot as bodies started moving left to right and up to down. Finally, the music had stopped and the band began to make their way out to the stage with the intro of “Holliday” playing. Turnstile would put on one of the best shows I’ve seen this year. It’s one thing for a band to be able to record a great album(s). But to go out and perform your songs even better live is what separates a good artist from a great artist. Turnstile performed a 17-song set along with a sick drum solo by Daniel Fang. There’s no encore, just straight music for an hour and a half.
Experiencing a Turnstile show is a must if you haven’t had the chance already. The next time Turnstile is performing in North America is February 28th when they will be making up some rescheduled shows from the Glow On Tour. Afterward, they’ll hop on one of their most extensive tours yet with Blink-182. Tickets to nearby dates are available here.

Snail Mail
Snail Mail is an indie rock solo project of guitarist and singer-songwriter Lindsey Jordan. Lindsey first performed as Snail Mail at just the young age of 15. Her first two EPs would come in the form of Sticki (2015) and Habit (2016) followed by her debut album Lush (2018). Snail Mail is touring in support of her critically acclaimed album, Valentine (2021) .
From 15 to now 23 and touring with Turnstile for the last several weeks. Snail Mail presents themselves onstage with a fun and likable personality. Pairing that personality with their music written through the experience of romance, heartbreak, blood, sweat, and tears. The Boston crowd enjoyed the ten-song set leading up to Turnstile.
