SILVERSTEIN SELLS OUT STROUDSBURG, PA

The first band to come out was One Step Closer, originally from Pennsylvania. They explained that they had a lot of friends and family in the crowd. This was an extraordinary stop on the tour for them. The frontman jumped a lot over the stage and kept the energy up throughout the entire set!

SeeYouSpaceCowboy was next, and they were all over the stage; at one point, he could be seen two-stepping across the stage. The guitarists threw guitars up and around them. They said show me what you got for their last song, 911 and interacted with the crowd a lot!

Dayseeker hit the stage next and explained how much their songs mean to them, even if they appear sad. The band and many of their fans have been listening to Silverstein for 20 years and were happy to be on tour with them. They said they were going to play a happy song called Without Me. Then the band and the crowd sang happy birthday to Rory, the lead singer; it was very wholesome. He asked the crowd to put their hands up for the next song, Crying While You’re Dancing.

Next came a quiet and chill moment where Rory talked about how his dad had cancer and suffered from Parkinson’s for ten years, but he always found moments of positivity. He thought he was going to beat it but passed in July 2021. Rory explained that his daughter was born and Dayseeker had been successful. He wishes his dad could see him getting to places he wanted to, but he’s not here to see it. The crowd reassured him that his dad could still see everything he had accomplished. Rory explained that his dad helped him get out of his shell. He said he wouldn’t have amazing things without his dad and that he owes him praise.

Rory explained that when Dayseeker started for the first 7-8 years, it was 10-hour days playing to 20-30 people. A few years ago didn’t know how he felt about the band’s future. The last few years have been kind to them. He thanked fans for being here and giving them their time and said he had two more for us. Rory talked about the album they released called Dark Sun and said they would play their last song called Neon Grave. He explained that this song goes out to his dad and the great man he was.

The headliner Silverstein came out next and explained that they knew many people drove out on a Sunday. Silverstein consists of Shane Told (lead vocals), Billy Hamilton (bass guitar/backing vocals), Josh Bradford (rhythm guitar), Paul Marc Rousseau (lead guitar/backing vocals), and Paul Koehler (drums). Shane talked about how many of their fans have been listening to Silverstein for 20 years and that they haven’t been to Stroudsburg in about 19 years. He said they would take it back to their first record and asked his old school fans to sing the song Giving Up with him.

The band asked the crowd to put their hands up and clap along to Infinite. He said Stroudsburg, we can’t hear you, crank that volume up to 11! Shane explained that they released a new song last week and will play it now. It’s called Poison Pill. They did a cover of a Linkin Park song next called One Step Closer and dedicated it to their opening band, One Step Closer. They said that was a pretty good singalong and asked the crowd if they could top it.

Shane said they had a lot of people to thank, especially bands on tour, One Step Closer from PA, and their friends from California: SeeYouSpaceCowboy and Dayseeker. Next, the colorful lights went away and dimmed, and a spotlight came out. Shane brought out his acoustic guitar and sang Misery with blue lights in the background. That was the end of their set, and the crowd erupted, yelling that they wanted an encore. Shane asked if the crowd was still awake, said they had two more songs, and thanked us for sticking around

Shane asked the crowd if they wanted to hear an old song, and they went crazy. The intro to the song made the crowd jump up and down, screaming in anticipation of what was to come. Smile In Your Sleep is one of their most famous songs, with over 40 million plays on Spotify! Last, they played The Altar/Mary, and the crowd was sad the night had ended. Make sure to catch Silverstein on one of their upcoming tour stops but get tickets fast since they are selling out quickly!

Hello, my name is Bri Skriloff! Ten years ago, I photographed local bands in small venues. Looking back on those photos helped me decide to return to my passion for photography. In March 2023, I got my first photo pass and started photographing larger bands. While I still love to photograph local bands, the feeling is indescribable to get crowd shots in sold-out larger venues. As an avid concertgoer, I always loved it when I found a photo of myself from a concert or event. I love to look back on older photos that I have taken to see how much I have grown!
