“Yours” is an emotional ballad which is featured on Conan Gray’s new album ‘Superache’, which is dropping on June 24th via Republic Records. It is the sixth released single from Gray’s sophomore album. The song was uncovered when Conan dropped a hint at the end of his music video “Memories” when Gray’s “ex partner” left a box with all of his items on his porch. On the box, it had a piece of paper on top that had the word “YOURS” in bold, red ink. He officially confirmed the song’s release on May 16th, 2022, to be out three days later.
This song was written by Conan Gray and Dan Nigro, telling the story of unrequited love. Gray wants to be the one that puts the special light into this person’s eyes and fills their heart, but he knows he is not the one. He knows that he is not able to change this reality, but he wants to be told to move forward because he isn’t strong enough to do so on his own. The lyrics of this song strongly describe what Conan is feeling. In the song, he sings:
“I want morе, but I’m not yours
And I can’t change your mind
But you’re still mine”
He is trying to tell this person that he wants to be more to them, even though he cannot change how they feel, he still wants to be with them.
Conan Gray’s songwriting is powerful and tells a story, which makes “Yours” a well-rounded single that will surely bring tears to your eyes. I cannot wait to hear the rest of this album when it is released.
